Don’t let that simple fact dissuade you from reading though. Sometimes a little cheese is good for the soul. My encouragement to you is to drop any repulsion you may for the “cheesy” things in life and take this opportunity to “seize the cheese”.
I honestly wanted to come up with a really cool and clever title for this book. I racked my brain trying to think of something that would grab your attention and make you think: “Man, that Bo Chancey is one creative dude. I can’t wait to read what he has to say.” But alas, my creative juices ran dry and I found myself right back where I started with a simple title for a simple book based on a simple concept that when realized has profound results.
The idea behind “Every Day With Jesus” is in every way simple. If you are a Christian, Jesus is with you always. He never leaves you. You are always in His presence. Sadly though, we often forget that the fullness of God dwells within us and we ignore God’s continual presence.
When we ignore Him long enough we end up in a place where it becomes possible to spend an entire day without having any meaningful interaction with God. We don’t seek Him. We don’t listen to Him. We don’t meditate on Him. In essence it is like God doesn’t even exist.
My friends…this should not be!
Our God is relational to the core. He created us to know Him and to be in relationship with Him. He is jealous…wanting all of our time, affection, energy, and thought. Jesus wants you to intentionally spend every day with Him.
We must refrain however from making this too difficult. Spending time with God does not need to be complicated. In all honesty, spending every day with Jesus is probably the easiest thing we could ever do. Jesus is already with us. All we need to do is recognize His presence and abstain from ignoring Him.
What would your life look like if you were continually aware of God’s presence? How would you change if you intentionally spent the next 365 days practicing the presence of God? “Every Day With Jesus” is a challenge to do exactly that.
This book can serve as a launching pad in your quest to spend every day with Jesus. Each day’s entry contains a simple statement designed to generate thought, promote discussion, enhance worship, and/or leave you to wonder at the awesomeness of God. All of the statements are short. They contain 140 characters or less…holding to the standard for the post-modern world’s attention span set by a certain social networking site that shall remain nameless due to various copy right laws. Each entry also contains a passage of scripture that goes along with the thought of the day.
The instructions are simple. Start each day by asking God to make His presence obvious to you. Then take 1-2 minutes to read the thought for the day and supporting scripture. After that, simply make the most out of your day with Jesus. Meditate on the thought for the day and the scripture. Share it with others. Discuss, question, and seek deeper insight. And if you happen to be so inclined to repost the thought for the day on a certain social networking site that shall remain nameless due to various copyright laws, feel free to do so without adding “@bochancey” because that would put it over the 140 character limit.
